''Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed'' is a quote I must have heard some time during my years at high school. Expectations and hopes are two vital things we unconsciously hang onto, but at times...
Easier said than done, true, but then again it's a known fact that when you lower your expectations of people, you will automatically lower your disappointments.
My problem with all this is that this somehow goes against me idiolizing and truly believing in the power of love and respect. I expect a great deal out of the people I trust and hang out with, because if one doesn't have the right people there to support him/her, then it's one sad, worthless world.
I'm torn between two worlds here, of course. But if I had to really think about it, my verdict would go something like this:
Each time you find yourself in a situation where you're fighting with all your might for someone to honour a promise or stay in your life, remember that the minute you stay silent is in fact the moment they will start realizing how they will be without you in their life.
Oh, and blessed is he who expects nothing. For he shall never be disappointed.
